Can anyone enlighten me why peak area drops so much while flow rate increases, say from 1 to 1.5 mL/min?

Thanks

Good heavens, this is the 100th time this question has been asked on this forum!

Stop the flow in the middle of the peak and let the analyte sit in the light path for 5 min and then see how big the peak will be. It will follow that the less time the peak sits in the light path (faster flow rate) the smaller it will be.

The unit of peak area is response(miliivolt)multiply time(seconds), general the response in UV cell are not increase much when increasing flow rate, but decrease of the during of time in cell is significant.
