hello everybody,
I try to speed up the separation of non-polar compounds without using normal phase chromatography. My analyts are not in the polarity range of fatty acids but still lack real polar groups. Do I have a fair chance by employing HILIC?
Best regards, Jens

Why do you want to use HILIC for such compounds? They sound "made to order" for reversed phase (by the way normal phase is HILIC)? Reversed phase is generally simpler and will be faster than normal phase.

If it lacks polar groups there is no way you can do HILIC. RP is fine.

Have you tried a smaller particle size column with shorter diameter? Generally, you can keep good resolution and have quicker analysis.
Another possibility is to use a column with less RP character. If you are using a C18, try a C8.
Most chromatography supply companies have a column hotline number/selection; Agilent, Phenomenex and Supelco to name a few. You can give one a call and discuss your situation.
