Hi , chromatographers,
1)What's the best cleaning of a C18 column after use a mixing of buffers pH2 / heptane sulfonic acid / MeOH or CH3CN / THF mobile phases ?

2) What is the last cleaning solvant for the storage of this C18 column ?

Thank you very much for your help .

Normaly , wash the column using water instead of buffer concentration + same concentration of MeOH , CH3CN, THF etc.
In the second step , you may reverse the column and wash with pure MeOH or CH3CN.In this step do not connect the outlet of the column to the detector, otherwise dirt particles on the frit may enter the detector flow cell.

Dear Anon,

to clean a RP Column we are using a mixture of ACN and THF (especially with polar endcapped C18).
If the column was used with a buffer or ion pair, we flush the column a long time (over night) with water/ACN approx. 7/3 and flow around 0.5 ml/min or lower, then change to ACN/THF.
To store a column we are using pure ACN and have made only good experience.
