Is anyone having an idea or experience about empower software from Waters? Is this good compare to other chromatography softwares? How much would it cost for buying one or upgrade one?

i do not have any idea about the cost of it..but it is definitely one of the best available.
It takes a little time to get used to, but once you get hold of it, i doubt you would ever want to handle anything else..

I haven't used other software than Waters software (except for the old fashioned integrators), and I don't feel any need to.

The software is a little bit complicated, but the service from Waters is good, so all your questions will be answered.
If I may suggest add the system suitability kit to your Empower, it's a worth add on.

Good luck and feel free to ask.

It's very easy to say: "It's the worst system I have ever worked with", but why? or is it the only system you have worked with? Then it's also the best system.

Give some further information about why.

My conclusion to your statement:
This world is only black or white, no colour in it.
Did YOU really work with Empower or just wanted Empower do the work for you?
What system did you work with in the past? Why did you use Empower, when it is that bad?
Looking forward to receiving some answers...

Frank

When I have to analyse impurities, there is no software around that can match with the Waters Millennium/Empower software. Especially when quantitating all peaks, peak purity and peak spectra match with liblaries is a must.
For "normal" quantitation of AI the Millennium/Empower software is more complex than most other software. Non-databased software is easier to handle and reprocessing is simpler to do. But if you are using / keeping track of around 100 or more different methods you will like the project based waters software.
When you want to have different integrations of one datafile and have to compare them you will love the waters software.
As with any database application you have to maintenance the software to keep the high performance of any project (but thats comparable to the backup work which have to be done with any software).
I have never seen a software which makes the reporting of your results that easy as the millennium/empower software do. Nearly every style of report with any data you want to report is possible. You want some special calculation done, you can define, process and report it.
Hope this gives you a short expression of the empower software.

Andreas

Based on my experience, you need to know and have available the related substances you would like to separate. I don't think the system works well when you don't know what are the related substances you want to resolved.
