I am looking for an internal standard that could be used in the HPLC analysis of lactate and pyruvate from brain microdialysates. We are using BioRad's column (HPX-87H)for the analysis of these organic acids, but have not been able to find an internal std that is not also in our physiological samples.

You might want to look at one of the perfluorinated acids. These are unlikely to be endogenous to your samples. TFA (trifluoroacetic) probably has too little retention to be useful (but I'm not certain of that!), but HFBA (heptafluorobutyric) might work. You would have to establish that it doesn't coelute with any endogenous compounds, but then that's true of *any* internal standard.
Hope this helps!
