The technique of ELSD detectors is out for quite a while now and I see more and more people using it and more and more manufacturers building it.
Is anybody having experience with instruments from different manufacturers (Sedere, Polymer Labs, Waters, SofTA etc.) and how they compare?
Does someone know of a comparison having been published somewhere?

For Pillin: For some compounds (high boiling) ELSD is more sensitive than RI, some compounds (more volatile) are no visible by ELSD. For some compounds without chromophore groups (like alcohol’s, triacylglicerol’s) UV is no useful and if You have to work with gradient, then ELSD is only choice.

Compared with an RI, the ELSD is far more sensitive (to my opinion - i work on phospholipids and other lipid compounds) and the response is quite universal (even more than MS). For compounds with chromophoric groups, UV and IR will be more sensitive than an ELSD.
Maybe you are more interested in the drawbacks:
it uses a lot of N2
it detects only non-and semivolatiles
It is not compatible with non volatile buffers like phosphate etc...
