Fatty acids derivatization

I need a method to derivatizate fatty acids (ex: acetic,propionic...)easily to improve the response of my FID?? Thanks,

Esterification is the most commonly used. Diazomethane and propanol/Boron trifluoride being the most favored.

Depending upon the matrix and column, another suitable alcohol can be selected as needed.

There are books galore that have detailed methods.

Handbook of Analytical Derivatization Reactions, Knapp, John Wiley&Son , Inc 1979 comes to mind.
