Agilent supplies very little information about Zorbax SB-Aq columns on their web site and in their catalog. I found only a couple of chromatograms, extraordinarily vague information as to the nature of the bonded phase, and the nebulous assertion that it will work with polar compounds. Has anyone had any experience using this phase for analysis of polar compounds?

Many AQ columns on the market are just unendcapped bonded phases.

Bruce,
I have used the Zorbax columns during validations as an 'equivalent' column technology. Typically, I have found the Synergi columns from Phenomenex (specifically the Polar-RP, Hydro-RP) to function better for our needs (retention of organic acids, i.e. lactic, glycolic) with respect to retention time, peak shape, tailing, etc.

I heard, that the SB-Aq has around 4% of C and its functional groups is comparable to the hydrophilic endcapping of some AQ phases.
Don't know if its true, maybe someone from agilent will give a statements?
