Hello,
We are using 1.0%Formic Acid in Water as our mobile phase and 0.1%Formic Acid in Methanol as our organic phase. Our question is how do we prevent build-up of the formic acid on the ion sweep cone, spray cone, and the ion transfer capillary? We are using a LCQ Advantage/Mass Spec.
Thanks

Formic acid is volitile (that is one of the reasons you are using it). Why do you think it is "building up" on your parts?

Hello, Anonymous #1
any informations about your method and your analytes?
Note that a low concentration of formic acid (1-10 mM) is usually sufficient for a good chromatography and ionization in an electrospray source.
