I have to extract polar aromatics from oil in water creams. I thought SPE might be the way to do it. Has anyone any experience of this? - I'd be grateful if you could give me any hints on the subject.
Regards
John

More information needed, what are the analytes of interest? We keep extractions very simple, if we can, and that usually works for us.

The compounds are aromatic primary amines mainly. Some have sulphonic acid groups. I've been trying extraction with methanol which seems to work OK. One of my compounds only seems to be soluble in water though which makes for a proper mess if I try to extract with water. I will try a ccentrifuge step to try to clean it up.
Thanks
John

Since your compounds have very different properties, you may need different protocols for the different components, such as cation exchange SPE and anion exchange SPE.
