Has any one an idea about the best tracking down method of phenolic epoxy resin compounds in oily fluids using an HPLC equipment.
We used:
Sample extraction from the oil, done using Aceto nitril.
column C18
detector UV ( We don't have the fluoroscent one)at 225 nm for GEBAD analyis for example.
Elution - Gradient ( Methanol and 5% Methanol in H2O).
The Standard solution peaks are ok. Our sample (diluted Oil) solutions do not show any peak at the known RT of sample the standard solution.
No peak at all !

The analytical community's practical advice is well appreciated, if there would be any.

Thank you !

What happens if you spike an oil sample with a known amount of the epoxy resins, do you see the peaks then? Are you extracting from the "oil" and injecting an acetonitrile phase or are you diluting with acetonitrile and injecting an "oil" solution? That is, is the "oil" soluble in acetonitrile? If it isn't, acetonitrile may not be a good enough solvent to extract the resins from the oil.
