Dear all

I try to find out how the CHI (chromatographic hydrophobicitiy index) will be calculated. A lot of papers use this index but nowhere is written how to calculate or how it could be experimentally determined.

thank you for your help

Andreas

Check on articles by Klara Valko! e.g. Handbook of Analytical Separations Volume 1. The last chapter is by Klara. She gives the following procedure:
1. Measure (on a particular column on a particular HPLC and gradient) the linear gradient retention times for 10 model compounds (Anal Chem 69, (1997) 2022).
2. Perform linear regression between the measured retention times and the CHI values published by Klara.
Don't know how well this works, never tried it. But Klara is Mrs. CHI...
