My Waters W2996 PDA has developed a signal anomally. After changing a burnt out d-lamp, their signals between 220nm and 250nm has flatline to 0.000, all the time. The only time a signal registers in this region of the spectrum is when the intensity peaks over 0.20 AU, otherwise it is a straight line. I see crackling of the baseline in other parts of the spectrum.
Any ideas on a fix? I think its a software issue. I have flushed my cell and rebooted many times, but nothing has changed.

Have you tried the PDA diagnostics from your Empower/Millenium software?
You can perform multiple tests to see whats going on. You can test your CPU, your lamp, .....
Run the test once and then call your local Waters dealer or post your results.

try another lamp, or if there is any life left at all in the old lamp, put that one in and see if the problem is still there.

I have had the same problem on my PDA.
I had dead spots from 220 nm to 240 nm. In this region there were no signal, and there were also strange artifacts in the 2D view.
I had contact with my Waters representative, and they actually trid to repair it twice, and ended up giving me another PDA on the warranty.
I suppose it is related to dead diodes in the detector, but to fix that they have to replace a board on which all the diodes are placed.
Contact your Waters support. It is not something that you can do yourself im afraid.
If you are interested, then I have some screen shots of Empower with chromatograms that exhibit this behaviour. I can mail it to you if you want to see how my problems looked like.
Best regards
Philip
