Does anyone know of a good reference that discusses issues related to spectroscopic detection in HPLC. These would include issues such as the setting of the slitwidth, and the effects on sensitivity and spectroscopic selectivity of using different slitwidths. Also, the setting of the reference wavelength. Finally, the way in which purity determinations can be done with a UV detector: by looking at 2 wavelengths (I know it can be done even better with a PDA).

I have looked in numerous chromatography books and also a few spectroscopy books but have never seen a book or paper that does a good job with this topic.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I used to have a book by Gabor Patonay that I consulted on detector issues. It must be good, because I do not have it any more (somebody "borrowed" it)
