I need to visualize D- Glucono lactone in thin layer chromatography. Does anybody knows how?
I usually use H2SO4 in 10% ethanol, but it doesn’t work well.
thanks

You can try a hot-gun to burn it as long as the TLC plates are glass or aluminum based.

Have you called Sigma Chemical Tech service for how they detect it by TLC?

I would use Iodine after development on a UVab plate, myself.

Silver reduction/oxidation spray might not work too well either, but you could try it.
