Does anyone know where I can find a monograph/chart/or web page of the relative solvent strengths for reversed-phase HPLC solvents? I seem to remember seeing a "slide rule" from a company that would give comparisons of solvent strengths for Methanol, Acetonitrile, etc. in water. I have found calculations using solubility and polarity parameters, but I'm looking for a quick reference to keep handy in a lab. Thanks!

In Practical HPLC Method Development by Snyder, Kirkland and Glajch (1997), the following references are used. Perhaps you could copy these:

P.J. Schoenmakers, H.A.H. Billiet & L. De Galan

(1979) J. Chromatogr. vol. 185, 179
(1981) J. Chromatogr. vol. 218, 259

Hope this helps.

Turns out there's a copy on our web site:
http://www.lcresources.com/dlmd.htm
it's about a third of the way down the page.
