Hi,

Is it dangerous to evaporate conc. acids on Rotary evaporator (e.g. 6N HCl at 90 0C)

I have done this in the past many times, it is not a fast process, but it does work.

I have done it many times..The only problem is if HCl vapor gets into your Pump, it will corrode. Keep a close eye on the pump oil.
Thanks.
Roy

I have knowlege like "Roy", it will destroy your pump. I use Speed Vaccum equipment (I think it should be the same as Rotary evaporator), I have an chemical trap between centrifuge and pump to trap water and acid.
