I just loaded a new printer, a Tecktronix 740 color lasar printer, onto my HP chemstation v.6.03 running in Windows 95 (controlling a HP 1090). Unfortunately, the problem is not consistant (it happens sporadically and under different conditions), but sometimes when printing HP chemspooler appears and says "printing error 233" and none or some of my pages print. I have checked manuals, the HP troubleshooting web site, and phone support and have gotten no help. The phone support did say that if there are any "*.que" files present, they shouldn't be. When the error message appears, there is a "HPsp100.que" file that is created in the hpchem/sys directory. Any suggestions? Should I keep trying or give up?

Is your system set up in Win95 for bidirectional communication with the printer?

Yes, it is. I have tried it both ways, though, and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

You will need a patch for the ChemStation to allow for color printing with newer printers.
