According to European Pharmacopoeia signal to noise ratio is calculated as 2H/h, where H=height of the signal and h=noise level.
I do not understand why a multiplication factor of 2 is used.
According to the mentioned calculation in EP, the ratio of height of peak to noise has to be 1.5, to meet the Limit of Detection criteria of S/N=3
