Tell me some simplest separation method in TLC which would simply demonstrate the principle of TLC.

Most of the vendors of TLC plates should have a standard dye mix.

How can silica gel be coated on the glass plates. I want to prepare the TLC tiles in lab itself rather than buying them.
Thanks

For "quick-and-dirty" separations, you can simply make a slurry of the silica gel in ether, then dip a microscope slide into the slurry. Takes a little practice to get the proportions right.
If you want more reproducible results, you can make a slurry in an appropriate volatile solvent, put an appropriate thickness of masking tape on opposite edges of the glass plate, pour on the slurry, and smooth with a glass rod or pipette. Check the Kirchner book suggested earlier for a more detailed procedure, but be aware that it takes a fair amount of practice to get reproducible results.
