I was trying to find a general review of HPLC monosaccharide analysis, specifially which methods have the lowest detection limits for a typical sugar as glucose. I have an LC/APCI-MS with detection limits in the hundred picogram range, and wanted to compare to fluorescence, amperometric, and GC-MS methods. Can anyone help with that info?

Brent,

I can't speak to the other methods you mentioned but a properly operating amperometric system can routinely yield detection limits in the mid-femtomole range (i.e. 300-100 femtomoles injected on a 4 mm column).
