I am looking for a column to seperate C , N and S
Just now we are working with a Porapak QS 4x6 mm and 2 meters long, but we dont get a good seperation between the C and N peak and the S peak is very small.
Maybe someone knows a better column to use or know were we can buy a new Porapak in Scandinavia or somwhere in Europe.
Thanks

Dear Christian,

I cannot answer your question without knowing the exact chemical substances you wish to separate. You are using a Porapak column now, so I will assume you are separating low molecular weight gases.

Please reply with another message in this forum with the correct chemical names or formulas.

HP used to make a nifty C-H-N analyzer that burned the sample in air to produce CO2, H2O and NOx, then reduced the NOx to N2, and measured all 3 on a Porapak GC column and a small TCD. Are you doing something like this for C-N-S?

I agree with Bill,i use the elementary analyser EA 1110 CHNS-O of Thermo Quest (Carlo Erba) and i think that is the best solution for separate your component with porapak Gc column and TCD.
