I am looking at buying a Flourescence and ECD(puls amperomatric detector). I need same advice on which ones are the best choices on the market,
thanks

Look at the McPherson system for Flourescence detection. It is truly the most sensitive one available today, although it doesn't have all the pretty features of some other units, i.e.; HP, Shimadzu.

Amperometric with pulse mode: I've used HP1049A with glassy carbon and refilled reference electrode (not the disposable, solid state reference electrode). It has worked OK even at High potentials (+1.00V). See detectors by Antek-Leiden which is the manufacturer of HP cell.

When I think of Fluorescence, I think of Hitachi and Agilent - maybe check those companies out. I know Hitachi Instruments make benchtop fluroescence spectrometers, so I imagine they have good HPLC detectors as well.

Jasco has an excellent fluorescence detector for HPLC. Never had any problems and it is extremely sensitive.

Check Agilent FLD, it has an excellent sensitivity, online scanning and can create 3D DAD like images. Very reliable.

I'm quite satisfied with my Shimadzu flur. detector. For ECD I think the best address is Antec-Leiden. (Unfortunately I never tried it.)
