Will gc be able to detect glycerin in samples of beer? Should I use a capillary or packed column?

We do glycerine and similar routinely here by capillary GC. Make sample 2% in DMF, mix 500 ul with 250 ul BSTFA, methyl silicone capillary column, no problem at all. I published this for glycerine in soap products in 1987 (I believe) in the JAOCS. External standard quantitation is fine, or use butanediol as internal standard.
