The response index (r) is a measure of detector linearity and is defined in the equation below. The proximity of (r) to "1" indicates the linearity of the detector. V = ACexponent r

V = detector input, A is a constant, and C is concentration sensed by the detector. The response index (r) and constant A can be determined experimentally.
