UV-CUTOFF WAVELENGTH or UV-CUTOFF: the lowest wavelength setting on a UV detector that can be used with a particular solvent. The UV-cutoff for methanol is 207 nm, so the detector setting must be above 207 nm to allow enough light to pass through the flow cell and permit the detector to operate properly. In principle, the UV cutoff is taken to be the wavelength at which the absorbance = 1.0 AU in a cell with an optical path length of 1 cm.
