OCTADECYL: see ODS.

OCTYL: a kind of bonded phase used for reversed-phase chromatography; also called C8.

ODS: a kind of bonded phase used for reversed-phase chromatography; also called OCTADECYL or C18. ODS stands for "octadecylsilyl" and refers to C18 linear hydrocarbon linear chains bonded to a silica substrate.

OUTLET CHECK VALVE: The check valve in an LC pump that allows mobile phase to flow to the column from the pump, but not in the reverse direction. See CHECK VALVE.
